The NeoPixel Necklace is a speculative design project combining jewelry and light as a way to signal social status and hierarchy. The necklace uses an Arduino Uno and NeoPixel LEDs to illuminate an acrylic wearable design. The color of the necklace changes in accordance with one's specific social status in the context to a location. In a department store, customers may be one color while service, security, and management may be another. In a bar, color may indicate relationship status. In a group, color may indicate who is in charge, whose turn it is to speak, or perhaps specific team configurations.
Inspired by Symbolism and Insignia like Uniforms, medals, Tribal tattoos, royal jewelry.
