This is my take on the "lover's eye", a Georgian era jewelry trend inspired by the Prince of Wales and the romeo-and-juliet-esque affair with Maria Fitzherbert. The lover's eye was a love token featuring a watercolor painting of an eye encircled by jewels and an ornate frame.
My version uses chasing and repousse in lieu of watercolor and is a self-portrait of my eye with a floating hematite cabochon pupil. The double post pinback allows it to be mounted as a brooch.
